2. Overall improvement of Patch Management

   This needs an overhaul and the following additional features would be an improvement.

   Scheduled Device Scan for Updates

   After updates have completed If a user is logged in prompt to reboot every set period of time until reboot accepted.

   After Updates If a user is not logged in attempt to reboot to schedule based on local device time.

   Allow local admin credential injection in order to force updates through that require a device to not just be turned on but logged in to work.

   Approve or Reject updates and set priority for security and critical updates based on the CVE.

   See status of patching without having to run a report on each customer. Under the customer there should be the option to see devices with failed, installed, pending updates etc. and color coded for ease of use.

   Updates for 3rd Party applications that have not been installed with chocolaty.

   These improvements i think would make a big difference to managing clients day to day without the need for full blown vulnerability scanning.

4. Wake on Lan automation

   We enabled WOL (Wake on LAN) on our desktops. It would be great if we can schedule a WOL packet being send to offline computers before processing the automation task. So we never interupt the end users by processing the updates outside office hours.

5. Patch management

   To be able to schedule Patch management tasks, this would be useful for Mac devices that require Upgrade patches to be run via Patch management instead of IT Automation profiles.

   This workaround is useful for Mac devices that are offline, in order to help automate pushing Upgrade patches

10. Windows updates installed with Atera are not synced with local client PC update history

    According to Atera support, Windows Updates installed with Atera are not synced with the local Client PC update history - so no possibility for the client to check the patch level on the device. In my opinion this is a bug, not a feature.

11. Automated rules based on Criteria

    Automated rules based on things like below

    • device type - Server / Laptop / Desktop
    • OS Type
    • OS Version
    • etc.

    This would then allow us to setup automation rules for newly installed agents or publish IT Automation based on criteria like so

    If "computer os" is "windows 10" then install these applications

    this automates the ability to install AV / Applications / etc. when a new agent comes online for a customer

    this in turn allows for an agent to be installed onto a computer which will then automate chocolaty to install

    we would also need options to install webroot / bitdefender which would also allow us to save the key for a customer so that when we install webroot it would automatically be installed

    i.e.

    If "computer os" = "windows 10" then install AV (using the already existing script on your site) with key = "customer key"

    each Automated rule should be able to be configured for every site... just selected sites.. or just 1 site

12. Display a pop up message before and after an automation and patch task

    Before a Scheduled Automation or patch task, we would like to have an option to send an automated message to let users know that this will be happening as well as another message to tell them that their computer will be restarted within X amount of time and let them postpone the restart up to 3 times.

13. IT Automation Calendar View / More IT Automations information information (consolidated)

    A calendar view for all of the automation profiles that shows the day and time of the week they are scheduled for. This would make for way more efficient planning of the automations, especially since it's already recommended to make a restart task a separate automation from other actions. This has caused us to have to create many duplicate profiles and has created an intensely muddy view of the automation profiles.

14. Advanced options in IT automation profiles (scan and reboot window)

    Support told me that new updates on servers will be searched at the start of the IT automation profile which leads to
    - higher bandwidth usage
    - more time for applying patches
    - reboot time which may is outside of customer's window

    What we need:
    Scan window: set time window for scanning (e.g. on day of patching in the morning/afternoon)
    Patch window: set time window for the execution of the patches
    Reboot window: window for rebooting (last reboot no later than X:YY)

    It would be good if we can at the device dashboard, select one or multiple devices and execute (RUN Now) a non-applied & unscheduled patch profile

    In other words, to assign a patch profile from the list of non-applied & unscheduled patch profile to run immediately and after that remove that patch from the device.

16. Optimized Automation and Patch

    Need to find a better solution for patch and automation.
    The fact that you can't run Updates, System Restore Point, and a Restart all on one profile without it running into conflicts makes little sense to me.

    I have now made 9 total profiles (3 sets of 3 [we have 3 different types of patch profiles running at different intervals]) to fix this. For each type we have to run System restore point, then 1 hour later a separate schedule for patches, then 2 hours after that a different, separate profile for restart. Hopefully it works.

    While it isn’t really TOO MUCH trouble, I would like to point out that from a programming standpoint, it seems like these items should have maybe a priority listing (If system restore is enabled, set item to #1 priority, pause any other scripting until item is finished, move on to next task, etc.), and while I understand that EVERY computer is different, there could be an estimated time frame to run the task listed next to the item.

    So, it could be System restore is prioritized to number 1, then patch as 2, then restart as 3. You could maybe even have an option for us to change the priority levels ourselves. That being said, and the time frame being mentioned, it could list time frame for all checked boxes, and offer an estimated time for the whole profile to run. Just an idea, but I will say that needing to make 3 separate profiles to make sure these run in the correct orders, and times, makes this a bit tedious and frustrating to manage.

    As I had said, it was not too much trouble, but the fact that I needed to take extra steps could be possibly avoided in the future for myself and other customers. I’m sure I’m not the first one to complain about this.

    Thank you for your help, and sorry for the rant, but I just feel like there is possibly a better way.

20. New Ticket Actions
