1. Patch management

   To be able to schedule Patch management tasks, this would be useful for Mac devices that require Upgrade patches to be run via Patch management instead of IT Automation profiles.

   This workaround is useful for Mac devices that are offline, in order to help automate pushing Upgrade patches

2. Windows update roll back

   It would be great to have a feature to allow for Microsoft patch roll back built into the product. This would be great when Microsoft puts out a patch that does not function as expected and thus affecting machine performance and/or non-functioning.

   Every product that I have used in the past offers this feature.

4. Software Patches on Patch Management

   We now have the Patch Management Page on Atera, which is useful but it would be great if there were a tab within that for Software Patches, as we can already see something similar looking per device.

5. Various functions are missing for MacOS

   Dear community, I pay extra for MacOS support and am very disappointed that many functions are still not available for MacOS. In particular, I can run scripts, but I cannot define thresholds based on this script.

   It would also be important to me to have granular patch management for updates, i.e. sorted by third-party provider or manufacturer as well as severity of the updates.

   As MacOS support costs extra, all functions that are available for Windows should also be available for Macs.

6. Windows and 3rd party patch scanning

   It would be nice to be able to manually scan for Windows updates, 3rd party patches and inventory via a button for bulk or single endpoint. Currently you have to wait or reboot an endpoint for atera to update patches/inventory and status.

7. Deploy MSI File if it's not installed

   When deploying a MSI file through Atera using IT Automations, I need an option where Atera checks if the software isn't already installed before deploying it. I'm currently forced to update all of my servers everyday whether it's needed or not.

   A precise control over the device reboot from Configuration policy

   What we need:
   We need to be able to specify a deadline for automatic PC restart and application of updates. Similar to the setting in Group Policy, the deadline time frame can be between 2 and 14 days. After the deadline has passed, devices restart regardless of active hours. Currently, it is between 15 to 180 minutes.

   What we have in Atera through configuration policy:
   • Disable auto-restart with logged-on users
   • Restart outside of active hours
   • Restart after selected time period
   o 15 – 180 minutes
   • Allow end users to control device restarts
   o Prompt users to restart their devices
   o Force restart option after a certain number of prompts
   o Option to customize the toast message

   What we have in MS Windows server Group Policy:
   • Turn off auto-restart for updates during active hours
   o the PC will not automatically restart after updates during active hours
   • Always automatically restart at the scheduled time
   o A restart timer will always begin immediately after Windows Update installs important updates, instead of first notifying users on the login screen for at least two days
   o The restart timer can be configured to start with any value from 15 - 180 minutes
   • Specify deadline before auto-restart for update installation
   o 2 – 14 days past the default (7 days) restart date
   o Restart can happen inside active hours
   • Specify deadlines for automatic updates and restarts
   o Updates will be downloaded and installed as soon as they are offered and automatic restarts will be attempted outside of active hours
   o Once the deadline has passed, restarts will occur regardless of active hours, and users will not be able to reschedule
   o Set a grace period for feature updates and quality updates to guarantee users a minimum time to manage their restarts once updates are installed
   o Option to set device to delay restarting until both the deadline and grace period have expired
   • Specify Engaged restart transition and notification schedule for updates
   o Control the timing before transitioning from Auto restarts scheduled outside of active hours to Engaged restart, which requires the user to schedule
   o The transition period can be set between 0 – 30 days from the time restart becomes pending
   o Specify the number of days a user can snooze Engaged restart reminder notifications (1 – 3 days)
   o Specify the deadline in days before automatically scheduling and executing a pending restart regardless of active hours (2 – 30 days)
   • No auto-restart with logged on users for scheduled automatic updates installations
   o Only notify the user to restart the computer

9. With scripts to be able to have "helper files" to be able to upload with the msi files

   Under Scripts you have the option to be able to upload an MSI file but no helper files. we have software that required a .txt licensing filing and would be helpful to be able to add that feature as well as automatically with all scripts to run /quiet /qn /norestart with all MSIs

10. Patch Management must follow policies set for the reporting and status to be useful

    It is great that there is a column in devices that will show all patches available.
    But that is less important than having a column and patch mangement tool that reports relevant patches that are required to meet my organizations patch standards. This information has been provided to the system by my Automation and Patching Polices. Yet the Patch Management panel and the Patches Available column indevices do not reflect this.

    This makes the the patches available column not useful at all unless you just want to see what is available for that given end point according to the MS database.

    It makes the Patch Management reporting and panel completely irrelevant. It will always report a close to zero percent of end-points being completely updated when compared with all available drivers for a given system.

    I don't need compliance tool that compares to everything in the world that is available. I need one that compares to the standards I set. eg. I don't want hw driver updates in the tally at all, unless I safelist that specific update to be required in my environment for the device to be considered meeting my standard.

    I had an conversation with Tudor in support about this and they pushed me to list it here.

    I appreciate the effort in the new panel, but it's only half done for it to be useful for anyone who actually wants to use it to gauge how many systems are "up to date". We don't have time to validate a handful of driver updates every week in a testing lab for every configuration. These systems need to be considered "up to date" in our organization reporting and tools because we don't touch hw drivers unless they break something or are a security problem.

    I propose a new device column "Patches to Meet Compliance", and that the Patch Management report/status panel be re-worked to consider the policies set in Automation and Patch Management.

11. Exclude Clients from Patch Management Portal

    We have some clients that don't want any patch management. This is fine as we can exclude their devices from any Automation / Patching profiles. However, their devices still populate the new Patch Management portal.

    It would be ideal to be able to exclude clients, folders, or individual machines from the Patch Management portal. This would give a more accurate number of machines requiring patches etc.

13. Delete tasks scheduled for offline devices

    The ability to remove scheduled tasks for devices that were offline when the task was run. e.g. If you push out an update that caused a problem, it would be nice to be able to remove the scheduled update (that will run when the device comes online) if you know it will cause an issue.

    As we strive to automate repetitive IT tasks, I’ve been leveraging Atera’s IT Automation Profiles to streamline end-user device provisioning. While this feature has significantly improved our workflow, I’ve encountered a limitation that affects its full potential.

    Scenario:
    Our provisioning process includes steps like:

    • Reinstalling or formatting used devices (or setting up new ones).
    • Renaming devices based on Asset Tags.
    • Installing the Atera agent, which initiates IT Automation Profiles to perform tasks such as: Installing software bundles. Running scripts (e.g., adding devices to Active Directory).

    Challenge:
    If a script in the profile triggers a reboot (e.g., during domain joining), subsequent tasks in the IT Automation Profile don’t resume or execute as intended. This creates uncertainty about the state of the automation and whether tasks have been missed.

    Proposed Solution:
    Introduce enhancements to IT Automation Profiles that include:

    • Sequential Task Execution:
      Ensure tasks execute in a specific order without interruption.

    • Post-Reboot Resumption:
      Allow profiles to resume where they left off after a reboot, minimizing manual intervention.

    • Configurable Delays:
      Include an option to define delay timers between tasks, especially for scenarios requiring reboots.

    This feature would greatly enhance the reliability and efficiency of IT Automation Profiles, especially as we enter 2025 and focus on automation and AI-driven workflows.

15. Patch management

    It would be nice to have a filter for the Patching Status widget. It seems like the patch status looks for all patches (OS, hardware ,etc) which skew the result. My team would just like to see how many devices that are fully patched but only OS patches.

16. Enable a higher-level select all and Install option, similar to the Reboot feature.

    In the Devices view in Patch Management, enable select all and install, similar to the Reboot feature. It is tedious and time consuming to review and apply updates individually.

17. View drop-down selection box for customers in Patch Management

    In the patch management screen, could someone look into establishing a view drop-down feature so I don't have to back to patch management main screen and then reselect the customers I was looking at? That way I can create multiple views for the customers as needed.

18. UAC contorol for PC

    The situation is sometimes clients download free software from the internet which might contain malware, to stop this, I am suggesting a feature in the Atera agent for controlling the UAC of the client. So whenever a client needs UAC admin access, The agent blocks him and in real-time notifies the technician about the authorisation request to approve/deny. If the technician approves the request, the Agent should autofill the Admin password which can be set from the Atera dashboard, and give the client access. If the technician denies it, the message should go to the client of admin denied and the client cannot access the admin privilege to install or change anything.

19. Better role selection in profile assignment

    Currently when assigning a patch management automation profile - you can't select required folders across all customers, it has to be done manually per customer which can become quite tedious.

    Would be good to filter by folder name i.e. all 'workstations' or all 'servers' across all customers.

20. File storage to upload "loose" files

    File storage to upload "loose" files which can be downloaded to the endpoints and run together with scripts.

    Example: I need to push out a script to all devices which reads data from a config file.

    How do I get the config file to all computers and THEN have the script consume it?

    If there was a file repository, we could upload the config file, and then setup an automation which will include the file(s) and the script required and push the whole thing as a "configuration".
