Asset Management, with ability to print asset labels, scan QR codes, and checkin and checkout equipment from one application
I'm currently evaluating Atera as a potential replacement for our existing help desk, which is lacking a really good asset management system. What I'm specifically needing is a better way to all of our assets as they come in the door and leave our environment for use. Ideally, the application would allow us to print labels in a variety of sizes for different devices and equipment, scan QR codes to checkin and checkout equipment (reserve equipment on the spot), complete maintenance surveys and allow users to take photos of equipment through the mobile app, and if I'm being a little greedy, it would be really nice to integrate with a GPS asset tracker like Samsara so that we know where all of our devices and equipment are at any given moment without having to go to one more system. Looking for a more all-inclusive solution to better support our team.

Warranty tracking has already been done, far better than I imagine Atera will be capable of... I just need Atera to integrate. Please, please, please do not try to implement this yourself Atera, you have the integration platform - let's use that please.
It will take you years to catch-up, just accept that a decentralized management system is the answer, not an all-in-one solution for us to get frustrated and find a replacement.
Stay in your lane, please.

It would be nice for this to be built-in, but I understand managing the API's for all potential device vendors/manufacturers would be very cumbersome. Perhaps integration with a third-party that already does this, but very specifically allowing two-way sync so Atera can retrieve this information without the need of a third-party portal.
As much as I would prefer not to pay more for this feature, it is certainly helpful enough so that we can include this information along with an invoice when new computers are procured and added to the system.

NinjaOne does it by just adding the serial number to the clipboard and sends you to the main vendors serial number check page.
A clever way to do it in Atera is to use a custom field with script. I have created GetWarrantyURL and posted it to the library. Sadly The script fields do not behave like custom text fields. If you put a URL in Notes or any other custom field, you get a nice open in a new tab button. A glitch in the UI does not give you that for Script Custom field.
The script would allow you to get the correct URL for each major manufacturer. If you copy the serial number before going to the url, you'll be good ;)
A better version of the script might get the actual warranty data ?

You may have done this by now, but we use the custom fields to do this. You can make it a date field as well for easier formatting. Then you can even run a report in advanced reports to pull anything that has passed the date.

Is this still under review, or planned for development?

I would love to see the Purchase date and Warrenty End date and Warrenty Type fields on device info for better device management.
Noticed the Asset Preset report and it has what I need, but now I'll have to manually add all computers with their purchase and warrenty information, in order to utilize the feature.
please make this a possibility -

I love the new fields available under assets. While I understand the difference between Assets and Devices (though they could be combined), I do wish that some of the fields available under Assets were also available for Devices. In particular, Status, Purchase date, Warranty expiration, End user and Location would be very helpful, especially if they were fields included in an a auditor report. Doubly so if End user and Location fields were included in a search. I will often have laptops get passed around from end user to end user. I currently use custom fields to track the assigned user and physical location, but they are not searchable, so when I loose track of a laptop originally assigned to a user or to a office/room, it can be a detective's job to track it down.

I am a one man shop that hast to deal with computer being unpluged and moved from time to time. It would be nice to be able to have a list of all the computers in a dept listed in the asset manager and be able to link that infomation to at QR code so I can print lables on all the compuers and monitors.

There needs to be a date field for all devices that can record the end of warranty on a machine. In our department, we use that functionality to determine when a PC needs to be replaced.

This would be very useful and allow us an an MSP to be more proactive with our customers on devices that are coming to their natural end and potential revenue for new procurements.

Serial number in device over view should take us to vendor support page with device information

I would like to tie assets to barcodes or QR codes so when a user scans a particular device with the tablet, it's history (user notes and ticket) will come up.

Allow the serial number to be a hyperlink that when clicked, it copies the serial number and then opens another web browser tab that is the support website for the brand of computer you have and you can then past the serial number and search warranty information or other specific information for that specific computer.

In the Agent drop down, we are able to add attachments. We use this to keep important documents related to the computer (ie. Purchase order, packing slip, signed documents from user, etc.). We have begun using the Custom Assets feature to add items like monitors, printers, etc. but there is no place to add an attachment to these assets. This would be a good feature to add so we can keep warranty and customer documentation in one place for reference.
