Missing Software Report
I think it be helpful to be able to run a report to show endpoints that are missing a specific software. I understand that Advanced Filters should be able to point out these endpoints (once current issue is fixed in next release), but a report would be helpful.
Hi,
We're excited to inform you that the feature you suggested has been implemented.

Identifying missin software is a challenge, we understand that. With that in mind, we are giving you several options how to resolve it: http://atera.uservoice.com/forums/936306/suggestions/45345682
Thank you for helping us improve Atera!

Hello everyone,
After going through multiple related feature ideas, we have taken a decision to provide a detailed response and mark the next steps.
Let's start with the basics:
• Software Audit (Operational Reports) can only list where an app is installed
• Analytical Reports (Looker) are your your friend. You have View access on Tier 2 plans (Growth/Expert); You get the ability to customize the existing ones and build reports and Dashboards "from scratch" on Tier 3/4 (Power/SuperPower (MSP)/ Master/Enterprise (ITD).Option 1: Use the Software inventory preset, then customize for “not installed” (T3/T4).
How to access: Reports → Analytical Reports → Presets → open Software Inventory
More (⋮) (top right corner) → Make a copy → save to My folder → open your copy. Click (⋮) (top right corner) - Edit DashboardClick the Pencil icon (top right corner of the tile you need.
Add fields you need (agent name, site/customer, OS, etc.)
Add → Custom field → Custom measure (Count) with filter: Software title contains "YourApp"
Add a filter on that custom measure: equals 0 → Run
Save as a new dashboard (My folder or Shared) → optionally Schedule delivery (PDF/CSV/Image)Option 2 — Build from Devices dataset (T3/T4)
Reports → Analytical Reports → + Sign next to it → Devices dataset→ Build report
Use Find a field to add: agent name, site/customer, OS, and any software fields (name, version, publisher, source, status, available/current version)
Create the same custom measure (Count where Software title contains "YourApp")
Filter that measure to equals 0 → Table → Run → Save/Share/ScheduleFast UI method (no report)
Devices → All devices → Advanced filters
Installed software does not contain “YourApp” → ApplyExport XLSX if needed; optionally deploy a one-time IT Automation profile to install the app, then verify in Analytical Reports or the Patch Management dashboard
Notes:
• Some analytics UI behaviors follow Looker BI’s native patterns (copy before edit, compass vs pencil).
• Need customization but on Growth/Expert (T2)? Ask us for a 14-day upgrade to try it out.
• We plan an in-depth technical webinar on software inventory and compliance; happy to add you to the invite list.++

Hi there,
Here’s the quickest way to identify devices that do not have a specific software:
- The Software Audit in Operational Reports can only show where software is installed; it can’t filter for “not installed.”
- Use Analytical Reports (Looker). On Growth/Expert (Tier 2) you can view the Software Inventory; on higher tiers (Tier 3/4) you can customize it. If you need to customize, please reach out to your Customer Success Manager / Account Manager. We will be happy to open a Higher Plan trial so you can test the Analytical Reports.Steps:
- Reports → Analytical Reports → Presets → open Software Inventory.
- If you need to customize, More (⋮) → Make a copy → save to My folder.
- Open your copy → click the compass (Explore) to enter the builder (Devices dataset).
- Add fields you need (agent name, site/customer, OS, etc.).Create a custom measure for the target app:
- Add → Custom field → Custom measure → type Count
- Filter: Software title contains "YourApp"- Add a filter on that custom measure: equals 0 (this returns devices without YourApp).
- Visualization = Table → Run → Save as a new dashboard (My folder or Shared).
- Optional: Schedule delivery (PDF/CSV/Image) with your filters applied.Notes
- Some UI behavior follows Looker BI’s native patterns (copy before edit, compass vs pencil).++

Currently, Atera software audit feature can show devices that have a specific software installed, but it does not filter devices that do not have the software installed. It would be beneficial to have a feature that filters devices lacking a specific software so we can extract the report.

agree, this should be a simple addition and it's extremely valuable. Without this field the software report cannot be used to verify software licensing.

I use custom scripts to send patches, but sometime those only apply to a specific version of the software. If the advanced filter allowed me to select the software based on the version I could achieve this.

I want to know if I can customize the reports and when they are exported they are exported in a way that I want to personalize, that is, organize it and make it look better.
Another doubt I have, there is suddenly a way that when I take out the Software Inventory reports, when I export it as Excel, all the devices appear with their program, is that to see which devices have that software it must be done program by program and it is something a little delaying when it comes to seeing a complete report.

Software Inventory of All Software Across All Endpoints. I would like a report that gives me a full software inventory of all software packages installed on all endpoints, identified by device name, and exported as a .CSV. So I can use Excel to examine software counts, endpoints that don't have a certain software package, etc.

Yes, need access to the software inventory table within the Advanced Reporting section. We would also use this to show all devices and filter devices that do not have various applications.

A report or a additional choice to the Software Inventory report, I love that I can see everyone with a piece of software installed, but I would love to see a report of people MISSING software. I think the software Inventory is great for this just needs to be adjusted to allow for both.

I agree! When I push out software; I'd like to see which computers are missing the specific software - so that I can send the push just to them.

Advanced Reports: There is no access to the installed software tables, I know there is the atera built in reporting – but I wanted to see if I could add to the dashboard all the non-compliant versions of java and VOIP apps etc.

A 'NOT' filter would be a great addition, I need to know which agents have NOT got a particular software package installed.

This feature would be invaluable to us as it would identify desktops, laptops and servers that are not fully protected.

Please add a column for Last Logged User to the default output of the Software Inventory Report for detailed excel export in the Devices tab.
Right now, I have to export a detailed excel report then go into the customer profile to see the last logged user and manually add them. It is very time consuming, especially if several different software changes were made to several machines between report runs. Having this column added by default would make it alot faster.
This is my very specific request.

Please allow simplifying the results from the Software Inventory report such that apps with different versions can be collapsed into a single line.
When I run this report right now, it's very cumbersome to see the apps installed when there can be 10 entries for the same app with varying versions. Being able to simplify this list so I can see plainly what apps are installed on which endpoints without having to mentally or manually collapse these multiple duplicate apps would be very beneficial.

List all machines with software of a certain version number and above/below (useful for example for finding java versions that require a license for commercial use)
