2. Customizable Step by Step Task Automation

   I would like the ability to create a step by step automation to control the order of which tasks/scripts get installed and insert reboot/shutdown tasks as needed. The automation would complete when all tasks have been completed in order. Having the ability to stop or continue on a task failure would be helpful as well. This would be similar to the automation of a Task Sequence in SCCM.

3. 3rd party patch management automation dynamic grouping

   We came to Atera from using PDQ Inventory/PDQ Deploy and were admittedly spoiled rotten with how well that solution worked. This is in the scope of what PDQ refers to as "dynamic collections" - and this is something Atera would benefit hugely from, should they choose to go after this. I tried to keep this brief, and failed miserably - my apologies in advance, and gratitude to anyone that reads to the end ;)

   Here's the scenario:
   We have ~50 3rd party software titles that we manage on subsets of computers. In PDQ, to manage 3rd party software we simply created a dynamic collection containing "devices with software 'xyz' installed", which we could then target for automated 3rd party software updates and patches.

   Take for example our deployment of Visual Studio Code and AutoCAD Inventor. There's maybe 30 users in our company that require VS Code on their computers, and about 40 that require AutoCAD inventor. These are not mutually exclusive lists; there are some users who require both VS Code and AutoCAD Inventor on their computer, and many others that need only one or the other.

   We have "overlaps" like this all across our 3rd party software deployments.

   I've worked with Atera Support on this and they offered the solution of using folders for 3rd party patch automation - but unfortunately, as an agent can only be a member of one folder at a time, this doesn't help our "overlaps" discussed above.

   For the time being we’ve been able to achieve a “good enough/close enough” solution with Atera using the following:

   1.) Create 3rd party software bundle and automation profile
   2.) Use custom views in the Devices tab to create our “dynamic collections”
   3.) Assign Step 1 automation profile to the devices in this view

   It’s Step 3 that gives us the trouble, as the automation profile is assigned to devices in the view, rather than the view itself. When we perform Step 3, it only applies to the devices that were in that view at that specific date/time the automation profile was assigned.

   This means that, if we were to repurpose a device and it no longer needed the 3rd party automation profile from step 3, it would still have this automation profile assigned until we remove it manually. Likewise, new devices coming in do not pick up the automation profile either – even though they are dynamically added to the saved view. I think if we had the ability to assign an automated profile to a saved view, rather than the devices in the view at that point in time, that would make Atera even more powerful and beneficial to us.

4. Create ticket trigger under ticket automation rules for patching

   Trigger for generating a new ticket if patches are applied manually through devices tab by a technician. Seeing as this is a manual action by a technician and not done through automatic patch management it would warrant a ticket being generated for a specific agent/contact with a relevant time entry.

6. Interactively chain scripts with choosing/passing results to the next script

   I want to call a script e.g. get-outlookplugins and this one gives back the information about the installed plugins. The last line in the script could be something like:
   [[Atera.Invoke ScriptName Enable-OulookPlugin.ps1 PluginName=$ResultSet]]
   It should then call the Script Enable-OutlookPlugin.ps1 and give the resultset or an value preselected for the variable PluginName.
   For this drop-down selection for script variables would be very helpful.

   I often use scripts to get an information needed in the next script. Maybe the chain or invoke can be enabled/disabled by runtime if atera sees that the script invokes another one. So in this example the get-outlookplugin can still be used seperately.

7. Killing Two Ants With One Shoe

   Title: Add Domain Account or specified accounts to Atera and to Shell/Scripts

   Currently Atera uses system and current user for scripts and shell. Adding Domain credentials to Atera would eliminate storing passwords in clear text under scripts and make management easier for accessing domain resources - network drives etc...

   With a system account - there is no access to domain network resources like drives. Yes there are work arounds using net use and possibly adding a domain account under Services.msc - Atera - Logon - domain account. What if the domain account breaks?....I mean yeah, there is a possibility to powershell that but that does not work at scale and we'd have to touch every end point and the same with changing account credentials.

   Current user - Hopefully our endpoints are local users or domain users logged on. Maybe they should install some software without admin priv right?

   Imagine adding a domain admin or even specified accounts as an option having easier access to domain drives and we don't have to wait for microsoft to fix Winget. Its like killing two ants with one shoe.

    If using configuration Policy and Windows Updates with restart outside of active hours on. Have a feature to wake computer at a time outside of hours to allow them to restart to apply updates

13. Customer Data should be Variables for Scripting

    All the data that you store for a cutomer
    - customer_name
    - phone #
    - email domain
    - etc.

    should be variables that can be setup to be passed to the IT Automation script variables when you run a script that has variabels

    this way i can setup 1 IT Automation policy that has {[companyname]} variable... which then gets the companyname from the company that the agent is in...

    this would reduce the # of IT Automation policies we need to setup from many to 1... making everything way more dynamic

15. History of all script executions with script output and script version executed

    We need to be able to see all executions of a script, with the exact code that was executed and the script output. This history should be available from the Script (to see all the times it has been executed and on what devices) and from the Device (to see a history of all the scripts that have been executed on the device).

    Each script execution should be saved in a separate entity with the date, time, device, script code, execution parameters, result and script output.

17. MacOS .pkg software upload support

    We get MacOs in our environment here and there and have a 3rd party antivirus that needs remotely installed and if needed other PKG type applications would need to be installed as well silently. We need Atera to support .PKG file types and know how to install on a MAC via the upload script method.

    Having to manually script it is very messy and requires a lot of third-party integrations and sometimes permissions need to be adjusted at the machine level locally. There needs to be more support for silent installation of applications for MacOS for us who can't guarantee a 100% windows environment.

18. Software doesn't exist

    In Ninja, we could install software based on whether it existed or not. This allowed me to automatically install the software if it was uninstalled for any reason or was missing from deployment. Even was able to generate an alert to the techs
