Windows Toast Notifications with Automation Progress
Add an option to display an interactive Windows Toast notification on the end-user device when a script or automation profile is being executed.
We’d like to have a simple tick box/checkbox that can be enabled when deploying a script or automation profile, allowing Atera to display a Windows Toast notification to the user on the affected device.
Suggested functionality
When enabled, the user would see a Windows notification such as:
IT Helpdesk (or Atera) Automation in Progress
An automated task is currently running on your device.
Progress: 65%
█████████████░░░░░░
Current task: Installing Windows Updates
The notification could dynamically update as the automation progresses, showing:
Overall progress percentage
Progress bar
Current task or script step being executed
Status of completed steps
Completion/failure notification when finished
For example:
Atera Automation in Progress
✓ Checking system requirements
✓ Downloading required files
→ Installing application
○ Cleaning up temporary files
User experience
The notification should be optional, controlled by a simple checkbox when configuring the script or automation profile:
☑ Show Windows Toast notification with automation progress
This would provide end users with visibility into what Atera is doing on their device, rather than leaving them wondering why their computer is suddenly installing software, running scripts, or making changes.
Why this would be useful
This would significantly improve the end-user experience and transparency of Atera automations.
It would also help reduce support queries such as "What is Atera doing on my computer?" or "Is my computer stuck?", particularly for longer-running automations.
For IT teams, being able to provide a clear progress indicator would make automated deployments feel much more polished and professional.
Ideally, the notification would be configurable per script or automation profile, allowing technicians to decide when end-user visibility is appropriate.
